Kathleen “Kitty” Jo Graves, 81, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, after living several years with severe vascular dementia.
Kitty was born April 9, 1943, in Jamestown, North Dakota to Howard James and Marion Elizabeth (Kalbfliesch) McGillivray. Kitty was the second youngest of 7 children - John (Jack), Patricia, Virginia (Sally), Jeanne, James and Michael. Kitty attended Jamestown Public Schools and graduated from Jamestown High School in 1961.
On December 2, 1961, Kitty married Allen Delano Graves in Jamestown, North Dakota. Together they raised a beautiful family of 4 children – Toni, Shawn, Lisa and Sondra. Kitty was fortunate to be a stay-at-home mom and raise her children as well as providing daycare in her home for other children. As Kitty’s children got older, she began working outside the home doing housekeeping in several motels in Jamestown, retiring from Comfort Inn in 2008.
Kitty enjoyed spending time with family, caring for her grandchildren and great grandchildren and had a great love for her dogs. She enjoyed spending time outdoors, listening to music (especially her son’s band) and dancing up a storm with the love of her life. Kitty will always be remembered for her selfless caring, always putting the needs of others before her own and had a knack of always surprising her family with silly shenanigans.
Kitty is survived by her children, Toni (Doug) Krawczyk, Shawn (Jackie) Graves, Lisa Didier, Sondra (Heath) Clark, 11 grandchildren – Angela (Jason) Koble, Dustin (Matt) Koble, Travis Graves, Jamie (Nito) Graves, Leanne Olson, Jennifer Schlosser, Brittany Hieb, Nicholas Olson, Cole Clark, Logan Clark and Mackenzie (John) Clark.
Kitty is preceded in death by her loving husband Allen Graves, her parents Howard and Marion McGillivray, her father and mother in-law Clarence and Selma Graves, 2 brothers Jack and Mike, 3 sisters Pat, Sally and Jeanne, 1 son-in-law Donny Didier, 1 granddaughter Stephanie Koble and several nieces and nephews.
