Kathryn "Kathy" Stefonek, 74, Jamestown, ND passed away Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at Sanford Hospital, Fargo, ND.
Kathryn Stefonek was born November 13, 1941 in South Bend, Indiana to Frank and Katherine Stefonek. Kathy graduated from Jamestown High School in 1959. She then went to Valley City State College and graduated in 1963. After college she taught in Sidney, Montana for two years and then taught in Pingree for 35 years.
Kathy was very active in state softball. She was the state tournament director, roster coordinator, women's state fast pitch commissioner, junior Olympic state commissioner, served on the state softball executive council and was Jamestown women's state league rep. She also umpired for several years and continued through the 2016 season.
Kathy is a member of Who's Who Among American Teacher's and the State Softball Hall of Fame. The highlight of Kathy's life was the summer that they named the Softball Diamond Complex after her.
Kathy is survived by sisters, Sharon (Harold) Odegaard, West Fargo, ND, Carol Stefonek, Moorhead, MN; nephew Justin (Jamie) Odegaard, West Fargo, ND, niece Kari (Mike) Lee, Perham, MN; and her great nephews, Easton Odegaard, West Fargo, twins Cash and Corbyn Odegaard, West Fargo, Aspen (fiancée Briann) Busse, West Fargo and Dawson Busse, Kennedy, MN. She was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents and her parents.
Funeral Service: 11:00 AM, Monday, November 7 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Jamestown, ND with Pastor Lucinda Lien, officiating.
Visitation: 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, Sunday, November 6 at Eddy Funeral Chapel.
Prayer Service: 6:00 PM, Sunday, November 6 at Eddy Funeral Home.
Burial: Highland Home Cemetery.
