Kathryn Ann Zieske, 82, Edina,
MN, died Saturday, November 29, 2008 at Ave
Maria Village, Jamestown, ND.

Kathryn Anna Grave was born November 22, 1926 in Minneapolis, MN
the daughter of Dr. Everet Floyd and Kathryn Leila (More) Grave. She was raised and attended school in Minneapolis, graduating from Roosevelt High School
in 1944. Kathryn Ann attended Carleton College
in Northfield, MN,
graduating in 1948 and went on to graduate school at Mount
Holyoke College,
South Hadley, MA where she completed her master's degree. She also worked for several summers at a
biological research station in Michigan.
She began work on a PhD at the University of Washington,
Seattle, WA. While she was in Seattle,
her father became very ill and she returned to Minneapolis to help care for him. After her father's death, she attended the University of Minnesota and became a specialized
Medical Technologist at the University of Minnesota Hospital where she also
taught a hematology course at the University of Minnesota Medical School. On June 9, 1965, she married Charles Richard
"Dick" Zieske at Trinity Community Church of Minneapolis and they made their
home in Edina, MN.
After retiring, they spent their winters in Marco Island, Florida. Following Dick's death on November 11, 2007,
she faced serious health problems and entered the Presbyterian Homes of Roseville. On February 1, 2008 she entered Ave Maria
Village in Jamestown, ND.

Kathryn Ann loved animals, especially birds and had several
wild and domesticated pets throughout her life.
As a student she had a very rich and varied life which included playing
the piano, horseback riding, ice skating, fishing, skiing, needlepoint,
photography, science, reading and many clubs and organizations. She was an excellent nature and wildlife
photographer and enjoyed travel.

Survivors include several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
