Katie Sauter, 97, Jamestown, North Dakota died Monday, September 2, 2002 at her home in Jamestown, North Dakota.
Katie Stroh was born December 1, 1904 in Odessa, South Russia, the daughter of Peter and Katherine (Derheim) Stroh. The family moved to the United States where they farmed near McClusky, N.D., before moving to Jamestown, N.D. She attended Lincoln School in Jamestown.
Katie married Fred Sauter on March 21, 1921 in McClusky, N.D. While living in Jamestown Katie cooked for various cafes in Jamestown including, the Moline Cafe, Majestic Cafe, Gladstone Cafe and the Jamestown Cafe. Fred passed away on September 17, 1973.
She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Jamestown and a Life-member of the American Legion Auxilary.
Katie is survived by one son, William Sauter, of Jamestown, N.D.; two daughters, Deloris (Lowell) Mosher, of Jamestown, N.D.; Marilyn (Milton) Joslin, of Denver, CO; eleven grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Eva Lippert, of Portland, OR; Tillie Haas, of Blue Rapids, KS; and a brother, Jack Stroh, of Jamestown, N.D. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers, and two sisters.
Funeral Service: 2:00 P.M. - Saturday, September 7, 2002 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Jamestown, N.D., with Rev. Doug Opp officiating.
Visitation: Friday, September 6, 2002 1:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. Eddy Funeral Home - Jamestown, N.D.
Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens - Jamestown, N.D.
