Kenneth Lange

Kenneth "Kenny" Eugene Lange, 85, of Jamestown died Tuesday, May 5th, 2015 at home. Kenny was born June 25th, 1929 at Trinity Hospital in Jamestown, ND to William C. and Ella (Preuss) Lange. Kenny was baptized in the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Eldridge, ND.
Kenny attended school for eight years at the rural Eldridge township school, two years at Eldridge High School, and graduated from Jamestown High School in 1948.
Kenny farmed a year before being drafted into the United States Army in 1951. Following training at Fort Gordon, Georgia, he was stationed in Korea from 1952-1953 as a cryptologist. He was honorably discharged as a corporal. Kenny returned home to farm. Kenny's dad, William, died shortly after his return from Korea. Kenny lived with his mother on the family farm until he married Ellen Pfeiffer in 1973.
Though he farmed full-time, Kenny's true calling was selling seed, which he started with Agsco in 1957, and continued until his retirement in 2012. In later years, it was less about the job and more about the friendships. Kenny served as an elder at St. John's Lutheran Church, where he taught Sunday school. He joined Atonement Lutheran Church in 1989. When Kenny's father died, Kenny was elected to take his place as township clerk, a position he held for 44 years. He raised fruits and vegetables that he sold at the Jamestown Farmer's Market for over 10 years. In his words, "That was a lot of work" with many hours spent "on hands and knees." He retired from farming in 1997 and moved to Jamestown.
His hobbies included hunting, fishing, bowling, traveling, and playing pinochle. His greatest joy was sitting with family and friends over a cup of coffee, and spending any time he could with his girls and their families.
He is survived by his two daughters, Rebecca Pergotski & Jennifer (Joseph) Woiwode, both Jamestown, and his five grandchildren, Sondra, Timothy, Valerie, Bella, and Isaac.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Ruth Cumber, and brother William.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be sent to Farm Rescue or the American Heart Association.
Funeral Service: 10:00 AM, Saturday, May 9 at Atonement Lutheran Church, Jamestown, ND with Pastor Scott Block, officiating.
Visitation: 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM, Friday, May 8 at Eddy Funeral Home.
Prayer Service: 7:00 PM, Friday, May 8 at Atonement Lutheran Church.
Burial: Eldridge Cemetery at a later date.
