Laura L. Bodvig passed in peace September 7, 2016 at the age of 94 at the Golden Acres Manor in Carrington, North Dakota. Laura Lucille Hornung was born August 16, 1922, the daughter and eighth child of Ernest and Rosa (Zwinger) Hornung. She grew up and attended school in Petersville Township near Pettibone, ND. Laura was united in marriage to Tilmer O. Bodvig on May 11, 1951 in Jamestown, ND and together they proudly built and established their farm in Lake Williams. A daughter, Kim, was born May 28, 1960.
Laura was a strong woman with an unwavering faith in God. A member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Pettibone, she sang in the choir. Known for her unique talents such as canning dill pickles, rolling a flaky pie crust, and beautiful sewing projects, she also enjoyed planting evergreen trees and a good chocolate. Laura knew the value of hard work and enjoyed being beside her husband both in the field and in the milk barn. Tim and Laura were skilled dancers and many admired their polka and waltz turns on the dance floor. Tim died February 20, 1976.
Laura's heart and joy were her three grandchildren: a teacher, a farmer, and one with a world full of possibilities yet to explore. She was a proud grandmother who prayed for each of them every day.
Laura leaves to cherish her memory: a daughter and son-in-law Kim and Dean Ripplinger, McClusky, ND; three grandchildren, Kristin Ripplinger, Mandan, ND, Alex Ripplinger, and Baleigh Ripplinger both of McClusky; one brother, Edgar Hornung, Jamestown; two sisters-in-law, Alberta Hornung, Jamestown, and Helen Hornung, Harlem, Mt; and numerous loving nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers: Joe, Elmer, Clarence and Albert in infancy; four sisters, Ida, Hannah, Goldie, and Esther.
