Laura Skeldum

Laura Skeldum, 80, Minot, North Dakota, formerly of Jamestown, ND died Tuesday, October 3, 2006 at Trinity Hospital in Minot.

Laura Spitzer was born August 31, 1926 in Bismarck, North Dakota, the daughter of Andrew and Johanna (Scheurer) Spitzer. She graduated from Bismarck High School in 1944. Laura worked for the U.S. Civil Service in Washington, D.C. for a short time before moving to Jamestown where she worked for Farmers Union Insurance. On February 7, 1948 Laura married Herbert Skeldum in Jamestown and started raising her family. Herbert died in August 1989. Laura moved to Bismarck in 1990 and then to Minot in 2001 where she resided until her death.

Laura enjoyed writing in her journal, cooking, baking, taking care of her plants and spending time with her family.

Laura is survived by her six children: Diana Kammerer, Oakes, ND, Don (Sandy) Skeldum, Minot, Barb (Gaylon) Baker, Dickinson, ND, Dick (Denise) Skeldum, Anthem, AZ, Bill Skeldum, Johnstown, CO and Chuck Skeldum, Fargo, ND; two brothers, Edwin (Sonny) Spitzer and Reuben (Leona) Spitzer, both of Valley City, ND; one sister, Darlene (Allen) Hagerott, Casper, WY and 13 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and one sister, Alvina.

Funeral Service: 11:00 AM, Saturday, October 7, 2006 at St. John's Lutheran Church with Rev. Dennis Ellingsen officiating.

Visitation: 2:00 to 8:00 PM, Friday, October 6, 2006 at the Eddy Funeral Home in Jamestown.

Burial: Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown, North Dakota.
