LaVerne Evelyn Wahl, 82, of Jamestown, ND, passed away at her home in Arizona on May 14, 2010.
LaVerne Williams was born on May 14, 1928 in Jamestown, the daughter of Harvey and Celia (Coil) Williams. She grew up and attended school in Jamestown, where she graduated from Jamestown High School. LaVerne was united in marriage to Orlan Wahl on October 24, 1947 in Eldridge, ND. They moved onto the family farm and farmed until his retirement in 1988. Orlan passed away on August 4, 1998. She later developed a very special friendship with David Wheat. LaVerne worked for several years at JC Penney's, Bethal Bible and Book Store and Tru Value Hardware, all of Jamestown.
LaVerne loved her flower and vegetable gardens, and plants of all kinds. She loved to sew and make afghans. She also enjoyed china painting, drawing, reading, playing cards with anyone who wanted to and traveling. Most of all she enjoyed her family.
LaVerne is survived by her three sons, Leonard and his wife Marsha, Blaine, WA, and their three children, Bryan, Allen and Marlissa (Ryan) Dix, Larry and his wife Patricia of Jamestown, and their children, Cade (Rachael Hagan) and Carissa (Lee) Garrett, and Steve and his wife Darlene, also of Jamestown, and their children, Matthew and Amanda (Jason) Schaffer; six great grandchildren; a very special friend, David Wheat, Florence, AZ; three brothers, Donald Williams, Cleveland, ND, her twin, Vern (Ruth) Williams, Kindred, ND and Kenny Williams, Overland Park, KS; and numerous nieces and nephews.
LaVerne was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one sister, Esther Dunphy and one brother, Robert.
