Laverne A. Warren

February 14, 1930 — September 19, 2002

LaVerne A. Warren, 72, died peacefully on Thursday, September 19, 2002. She was surrounded by her family at her daughter's home after a courageous three month battle with cancer.

LaVerne Schaible was born February 14, 1930 at Jamestown, North Dakota, the daughter of Gottlieb and Odelia ""Tillie"" (Stoecker) Schaible. She grew up and attended school at Gackle, North Dakota. The family later moved to Jamestown, North Dakota where she continued her education, graduating from Jamestown High School in 1948. She worked for the Jamestown Cafe for several years.

She married Harold C. ""Bud"" Warren on July 31, 1950 in Jamestown, N.D., where they made their home. In 1965 the family moved to West Fargo. In 1980 she worked for the United States Census Bureau and in 1982 she ran for Mayor of West Fargo. They returned to Jamestown in 1988. Her husband passed away on October 14, 1989.

LaVerne was the caregiver of people, volunteering at the Senior Citizen's Center and the Gardenette Senior Center.

She enjoyed spending time with family and friends at Lake Elsie, near Hankinson. She loved her grandchildren and always welcomed guests with delicious home cooked meals. LaVerne always tried to maintained contact with a wide circle of friends.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Jamestown, N.D.; the Troll Dancers (Norwegian Folkdancers), and the Jamestown Eagles Auxillary.

LaVerne is survived by five children, Gregory (Brenda) Warren, of West Fargo, N.D.; Budd Warren, of Fargo, N.D.; Wade (Michelle)Warren, of Bismarck, N.D.; Marsha (Randy) Swensen, of Harwood, N.D.; Gretchen (Dan) Ehlen, of Horace, N.D.; 13 grandchildren and one great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one daughter, two sisters, and one brother.

Funeral Service: 11:00 A.M. - Monday, September 23, 2002 at First United Methodist Church, Jamestown, N.D., with Rev. Dick Boyd officiating.

Visitation: Sunday, September 22, 2002 1:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown, N.D.

Burial: Highland Home Cemetery - Jamestown, N.D.
