Leah Hins, 85, of Jamestown, ND died on September 23, 2014 at Sanford Palliative Care in Fargo, ND, after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. Leah Christina (Hofmann) Hins was born September 7, 1929 to Lidia (Stohr) and Peter Hofmann, Sr., in Medina, ND. She grew up in Medina and received her education in a rural one-room country school?She believed strongly in the value of education. Leah was united in marriage to Vernon Fredrick Hins of February 29, 1948. From this union five children were born, Betty, Janice, Anthony, Jeffrey and Barbara. Throughout Leah's lifetime, she avidly enjoyed the satisfaction of a job well done. Her work career continued to the age of 80, when she officially retired. During her years of employment, working with and caring for people was the most rewarding for her. Whatever ailment or illness occurred, Leah had either an herbal remedy or homemade remedy to aid in its cure. She enjoyed going to Curves for her daily exercise, playing on her ipad, watching reruns of "Mr. Ed." She treasured time spent with her family and friends. Leah was a woman who believed that age was on the calendar but youth was in the heart. Leah is survived by her husband, Vernon, five children, Betty Werner (Dale) of West Fargo, ND, Janice Mimnaugh (Bill) of Breckenridge, MN, Anthony Hins of Kindred, ND, Jeffrey Hins (Jean) of Beulah, ND, and Barbara Davis (Greg) of Edina, MN; 14 grandchildren, nine step-grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; two sister-in-laws, LaVerna Hofmann and Janice Hofmann. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends, especially her dear friends, Sally and Don Schmid. She was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Lidia Hofmann, by her six brothers, Jake, Peter, Fred, Benny, Rudolf and Reinhold and her four sisters, Sophia, Martha, Bertha, Rose, and three sisters who died in infancy. Leah was also preceded in death by a great-grandchild, Jacob Bakken.
Funeral Service: 10:30 AM, Saturday, September 27, 2014 at Assembly of God Church, Jamestown with Pastor Larry Frietag, officiating.
Visitation: 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Friday, September 26 at Eddy Funeral Chapel.
Prayer Service: 7:00 PM, Friday, September 26 at Eddy Funeral Chapel.
Burial: Medina Cemetery, Medina, ND.
