Leopold Aaron Heinrich, 96, Medina, North Dakota died Monday, October 3, 2005 enroute to his favorite fishing hole.
Lee was the oldest of seven children born to John and Carolina (Reister) Heinrich. He was born on July 7, 1909 north of Gackle, ND. Lee grew up in the Medina area where he attended school until the 8th grade. Lee married Martha Essig on October 5, 1933. They lived 2 1/2 miles east of Medina before moving to their present location 5 miles north of Medina.
Lee helped to build Old Highway 10 and was employed by Northern Pacific Railroad. He and Martha milked cows and farmed for many years. Martha passed away on January 7, 1991.
Lee served on the Medina Public School Board, Medina Volunteer Fire Department, UCC Church Board, Flint Township Board and as the Flint Township Tax Assessor. Lee was a member of the United Church of Christ. He enjoyed fishing and going to town to visit with his friends.
Lee is survived by his daughter, Sandra (Jerrie) Jones of Chino Valley, AZ; his son, Gene (Tammy) Heinrich of Medina; three grandsons, Richie, Michael and Christopher Heinrich of Medina and two brothers, Harold Heinrich of Jamestown and Clarence (Berniece) Heinrich of Fargo, ND.
He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; two sisters, Ella and Hilda and two brothers, Reinhold and Edwin.
Funeral Service: 11:00 AM, Thursday, October 6, 2005 at Zion United Church of Christ, Medina with Rev. Karl Limvere officiating.
Visitation: 5:00 to 8:00 PM, Wednesday, October 5, 2005 at the Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown, ND.
Burial: Medina Cemetery, Medina, North Dakota.
