Leila Vinson, 53, Jamestown, ND died at her home in Jamestown on Sunday, October 18, 2009.
Leila Kathryn Council was born on March 3, 1956 at Swainsboro, Georgia, the daughter of Jack and DeLaine (Key) Council. She attended the Swainsboro schools and then attended Northland Community College, Grand Forks, ND. Leila worked as an Emanuel County Deputy Sheriff for 2 years before she entered the United State Air Force in 1980. She served in Charleston, SC, Honolulu, HI and then at the Grand Forks Air Base before her discharge in 1995. Leila and Troy Vinson were married at Charleston, SC in 1982. She moved to Jamestown in 2006.
Survivors include her daughter, Tara Vinson, Jamestown; 1 granddaughter, Khloe; her parents, Swainsboro, GA; 1 sister, Kay Beasley, Oak Park, GA and 1 brother, Jack Council, GA.
She was preceded in death by her dog, Netra.
Leila was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Jamestown and the American Legion. She enjoyed traveling, shopping, writing stories, baking cakes and playing bingo.
Funeral Service: 1:30 p.m. Saturday, October 24, 2009 at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Jamestown, ND with Rev. Gary L. Ball-Kilbourne officiating.
Visitation: None planned.
Interment: At a later date.
