Lenhard Elhard

Lenhard Elhard, 80, of Jamestown, ND died Saturday, March 6, 2004 at Central Dakota Village, Jamestown.

Lenhard Elhard was born August 18, 1923 in Lehr, North Dakota the son of Otto and Elizabeth (Reich) Elhard. He went to country school near Lehr and worked on the family farm. Lenhard entered the US Army on December 13, 1944 at Ft. Snelling, MN and served in the Asiatic Pacific Theater during WWII. He was discharged on February 15, 1947 at Ft. Leavenworth, KS. Lenhard married Bernice Bitz on June 30, 1948 in Jamestown, ND. They lived in Jamestown where he worked construction, then later for the City of Jamestown. He retired after 27 years of service with the City of Jamestown in 1989.

Lenhard is surviced by his wife, Bernice Elhard of Jamestown, ND; four sons, Douglas Elhard of Vancouver, WA, Kenneth (Diana) Elhard of Jamestown, ND, Gerald (Clara) Elhard of Fargo, ND, Bernelle ""Mel"" (Donna) Elhard of Jamestown, ND; one daughter, Diana (Donald) Anderson of Franklin, TN; 14 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers, Art, Merle, Clifford, Ralph, and Ardell.

Funeral Service: 10:30AM Wednesday, March 10, 2004 at Eddy Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, ND.

Visitation: Tuesday, March 9, 2004 from 9:00AM to 9:00PM at the Eddy Funeral Home.

Prayer Service: 7:30PM, Tuesday, March 9, 2004 at Eddy Funeral Chapel.

Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Jamestown.
