Leo Philip Lacher, 82, Jamestown, ND passed away peacefully at Ave Maria Village on June 10 after a valiant battle with cancer.
Leo was born October 19, 1932, at home in Zeeland, ND to Clara (Blondo) and George P. Lacher. Leo entered the Army in 1953 and deployed to Pusan Korea. He was in the artillery and served until 1954 and was honorably discharged. Leo worked for Shultz and Lindsay for 8 years which brought Leo to Williston, where he met his wife Joan (Clark) Macomber of 59 years. Leo worked at the Dakota Salt plant from 1960 until it closed in 1989. He then went to work for the American State Bank until he retired in 2002.
Leo enjoyed his family most of all. He enjoyed working at the bank, golfing, playing pinochle and working out at the Wellness Center. Leo was an avid sports fan, he loved watching the Tetons and Coyotes. Leo was an active member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and served as fourth degree knight. Leo was very active in the Moose Club, enjoying all the activities the club offered. He enjoyed his grandkids and later his great grandkids.
Leo is survived by his wife, Joan; son, Danny (Teri), Williston; daughter, Julie (Jim), Jamestown; Stephen Chiang, Minneapolis, MN; two sisters, Kathryn (Ervin) Selzler, Strasberg, ND and Jenny Lacher, Wishek, ND; grandchildren, Kristen Lacher, Bismarck, ND, Danette (John), Ostby, Danielle (Holand) Neubauer, Williston, ND and Dustin (Kim) Lacher, Minot, ND; five great-grandchildren and one expected in July and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Steven, father, mother, brother, Larry, three sisters, Gertrude Clodfelter, Loretta Boggs, Phyllis Bosworth and an infant brother, George.
Prayer Vigil: 1:15 PM, Saturday, June 13 at Good Shepherd Chapel, Ave Maria Village, Jamestown, ND with Fr. Sean Mulligan, officiating.
Visitation: 3:00 PM to 7:30 PM, Friday, June 19 at Everson-Coughlin Funeral Home, Williston,ND.
Vigil Service: 7:30 PM, Friday, June 19 at Everson-Coughlin Funeral Home, Williston, ND.
Mass of Christian Burial: 10:00 AM, Saturday, June 20 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Williston, ND with Fr. Biju Antony, officiating.
