Leona Brown, 108, Jamestown, North Dakota, died Sunday, December 5, 2010 at Eventide at Hi-Acres Manor in Jamestown.
Leona Kramer was born April 5, 1902 in Wang Township, Renville County, Minnesota, the daughter of August and Emma (Reinholt) Kramer. Leona finished her schooling in Pingree in 1916. On September 26, 1921, Leona married Frank Brown in Pingree. They farmed in the Pingree area until 1949. Leona and Frank moved to West Fargo for about 10 years before returning to Pingree in 1960. Frank died in 1976, and Leona continued living at home until entering Hi-Acres in 2005.
Leona was a member of the United Congregational Church, Pingree, the Ladies Aid and Sewing Club. She enjoyed crocheting, reading and gardening.
Leona is survived by one son, Howard Brown, Jamestown; one daughter, Tressa (Eugene) Tompkins, Jamestown; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; one brother, Eugene; and one sister, Naomi Nelson.
Funeral Service: 2:00 PM, Thursday, December 9, 2010 at the Eddy Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, ND, with Pastor Bryce Tahran officiating.
Visitation: 2:00 to 7:00 PM, Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at the Eddy Funeral Home.
Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Jamestown, North Dakota
