Leona Krapp

February 21, 1925 — April 2, 2024

Jamestown, North Dakota

Leona Mae Krapp, 99, of Buchanan, ND passed away April 2nd, 2024 at Jamestown Regional Medical Center.

Leona was born February 21, 1925 to Chris and Clara Schultheis in rural Round Top Township in Stutsman County, ND.  Leona attended Round Top Country School through 8th grade.  Her mother died at a young age and her father was not healthy which is where Leona learned her self-sufficient and hard-working attitude and qualities.

Leona married Victor Krapp on October 20, 1944 at St Michael’s Catholic Church in Pingree.  They lived on a farm west of Buchanan in Deer Lake Township, where she has lived for the past 80 years until her death.  They raised small grains, milked cows, raised livestock, and this was also where they raised their 7 children.

Leona was an avid gardener and enjoyed the outdoors, flowers, crafts and wildlife.  She maintained her flowers daily up until the last year.  At 99 years old, there were no weeds!  She kept and planted her seeds and had the prettiest arrangements.  She was already planning the flowers she wanted this May. Leona enjoyed puzzles, wordsearch and gameshows.  She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.  Leona was a member of St. Margaret’s Catholic Church and Altar Society of Buchanan, ND.

Leona was a good cook and served all holidays and family get togethers with a smile.  All will remember her Peanut Blossom Cookies as they were a favorite of hers to make.  She continued to make homemade bread, even just days before she got sick.

Leona was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and friend with a strong faith in God.  She even kept a well-used Rosary in her purse just in case.  She was always most interested in serving others, her unconditional love and generosity were unmatched.  Leona lived a remarkable, long life and has set an example for all of us to live by.  Heaven has just welcomed an angel with a heart of gold.  She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Leona is survived by her 7 children:  Darrell Krapp, Jamestown, Sandra Green, Jamestown, Gene (Sheila) Krapp, Jamestown, Karolyn (Jim) Mathews, Toledo, OH, Steven (Joan) Krapp, Jamestown, David (Sheila) Krapp, Jamestown, Russell (Darlene) Krapp, Buchanan;  20 grandchildren, many, many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Leona is preceded in death by her parents, husband Victor Krapp, 2 sisters Viola (Marvin) Fisher and Katherine (Easoph) Harr, and many friends and family.
