Leonard Wyngarden

Beloved Husband, Father, and Grandfather, Leonard Wyngarden, 82 of Tappen, ND died May 28, 2005 at home on the family farm which was established in 1905.

Leonard was born on May 16, 1923 in Weiser Township, near Tappen, ND, the son of Leonard and Lydia (Netzke) Wyngarden. He attended schools in Weiser Township and Pettibone, ND. He was a member of the former Pettibone ELCA Church and served on the Weiser Township Board for many years.

Leonard and Barbara Vellenga were married June 7, 1952 at the Malcolm Church near Pettibone, ND. They made their home on the farm raising seven children. Farming and family were his two primary interests. He enjoyed working and used his carpentry skills to build and improve the farmstead. He truly enjoyed visits from his children and grandchildren which often included musical entertainment. In recent years, he viewed crops and cattle on his four wheeler. To the last of his days he continued to be interested in the farming operation.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara, Tappen, ND, three sons, Alan (Barbara), Denver, CO, Steve (Cathy), Las Vegas, NV, Joel (Kelly), Denver, CO, four daughters, Margaret (Randy) Johnson, Fargo, ND, Jane (Bruce) Thomas, Tappen, ND, Marion (Fred) Stepan, Austin, TX, Lisa (Jeff) Berg, Buffalo MN, eleven grandchildren, one sister, Eileen (Warren) DeKrey, Bismarck, ND.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, one sister.

Funeral service; 10:00 AM, Tuesday, May 31, 2005 at the Eddy Funeral Home with Rev. Ellen Arthur and Joan DeKrey officiating.

Visitation; 1:00 to 5:00 pm, Monday, May 30, 2005 at Eddy Funeral Home.

Burial; Pettibone Lutheran Cemetery, Pettibone, ND at 12:00 noon, with lunch following at the Community Center.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to Kidder County Ambulance or St. Alexius Home Health/Hospice care.
