Leroy Roeske

Leroy Marvin Roeske, 87, Jamestown, North Dakota died Friday, October 15, 2010 at Eventide at Hi-Acres, Jamestown.
Leroy was born August 31, 1923, in Jamestown, the son of Reynold and Martha (Daede) Roeske. He was baptized on October 7, 1923 and confirmed in 1937 at St. John's Lutheran Church. He attended Jamestown schools, graduating from Jamestown High School in 1941. On October 19, 1958, Leroy married Velma Morris at St. John's Lutheran Church. He farmed all his life southeast of Jamestown. He was a good steward of the soil and loved the land.
Leroy was a lifelong member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Jamestown, where he served on the church council for 9 years. He was also a lifelong member of the North Dakota Farmers Union, served on the Stutsman County Farmers Union board for 10 years, the Cenex board for 12 years, and he was a Homer township supervisor for 18 years. He was a member of the Ypsi 50+ Club and delivered Meals on Wheels for many years. He enjoyed men's Bible study, volunteer work, watching parades and visiting with people. He loved gatherings and social events of all kinds, especially birthday parties, where he could have his family around him.
Leroy is survived by his wife, Velma, Jamestown; three children, Sandra (Carl) Franke, Jamestown, Marvin (Lisa) Roeske, Fargo, ND and Darwin (Pauline) Roeske, Jamestown; seven grandchildren, Kurt, Scott & Jay Franke, Ashley & Danielle Roeske, all of Jamestown, Quinn & Leah Roeske, Fargo; two step-grandchildren, Brandi (Todd) Lebahn, Dilworth, MN and Wally (Kirsten) Diede, Sioux Falls, SD; four step-great grandchildren, Camden and Elleana Lebahn and Shelby and Alyssa Diede; one sister, Lois Gasal, Jamestown; and several nieces & nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, William Gasal.
