Lester Reuben Ochsner, 86, Jamestown, North Dakota, formerly of Medina, ND, died Friday, November 16, 2007 at Hi-Acres Manor Nursing Home in Jamestown.
Lester was born July 18, 1921 in Medina, ND, the son of John and Jacobine (Walters) Ochsner. He was raised and lived most of his life in Medina; until health forced Lester to live at Rock of Ages and Hi-Acres Manor in Jamestown, until his passing. Lester lived his life on the family farm with occasional hunting trips to Alaska and Canada for moose, caribou, and bear. Lester devoted his life to preserving wildlife, the land, and his dogs (especially Chipper, Queenie and Duchie). Lester would occasionally spice things up with his pet coyote (Wolfie), badger (Shorty), and even a bat. Lester had quite a knack for catching and taming these animals, and would even show his skills by throwing a rock and killing a gopher.
Lester did a lot of his hunting with the Major boys from Medina. They showed their innovative skills when they made the ""Swamp Buggy"", which they took to Alaska. The ""Swamp Buggy"" was made like a half track with a combine engine, car frame, and a truck transmission.
Lester lived with his two sisters, Edna and Louise, till they passed away. The Thompson sisters and brother had many joyous adventures at the Ochsner farm. Their countless memories will be forever in their hearts.
We can smile to know Lester's body and mind are once again whole, and he is walking the prairies, listening to the music of the coyotes.
Lester is survived by his brother, Joseph, who lives in Jamestown.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Emma, Louise and Edna.
