Lilly Mathilda Van Erem, 100, Jamestown, North Dakota, died Monday, June 30, 2003 at Hi-Acres Manor Nursing Home, Jamestown. Lilly Wilson was born August 21, 1902 in Minnesota on a farm near Hector, the daughter of Swen and Anna M. Wilson. When she was four years old she came with her parents to North Dakota where they settled on a farm one mile south of Buchanan. She grew up there and got her education in the Buchanan School and went to Sunday School and church in the Congregational Church there. She helped on the family farm. She married Harry Van Erem on June 20, 1929 and they farmed in the Buchanan area for 16 years, then moved to their farm at Pingree and farmed there until they retired in 1963, at which time they bought a home north of Jamestown on Highway 20 and resided there for 29 years. In 1992 they moved into an apartment in Jamestown where they lived until 1997 when they both moved to Rock of Ages. Lilly and Harry celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on June 20, 1999. Harry died May 8, 2002 at the age of 100.
Lilly was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Faith Circle. She also belonged to a sewing club and a birthday club. Her hobby was crocheting afghans and she enjoyed giving them to relatives and friends and many were donated to the church bazaar.
Lilly is survived by many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four brothers and one sister.
Funeral Service: 2:00 PM, Thursday, July 3, 2003 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Jamestown, North Dakota with Rev. Terry Anderson officiating.
Visitation: 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM, Wednesday, July 2, 2003 at Eddy Funeral Home.
Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Jamestown, North Dakota.
