Linda Rae Ova

Linda Rae (Anderson) Ova, 69, Pingree, N.D., lost her battle to interstitial lung disease on Saturday, May 11, at the M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center - East Bank in Minneapolis.

Linda was born Aug. 6, 1954, in Portland, Ore. She was raised by her parents, David and Winifred Anderson. She grew up in Williston, N.D., where she attended Williston High School.

She graduated from Valley City State University with a major in art and minor in English.

Linda went on to the National Guard before moving to Japan where she lived for eight years. In Japan, she married Hidechi Masubuchi and adopted two children, Masaki and Cainna.

Linda moved back to Pingree with her children in 1991. She taught art at Pingree-Buchanan High School from 1993 to 2013. She was also a tutor and taught seventh-grade English at Pingree-Buchanan High School. She also owned and operated Bigg Dogg Cuisine, making and selling a variety of salsas, pepper jellies and seasoned salt.

She married Dean Ova on Oct. 20, 1995. Together they raised Masaki and Cainna.

Linda enjoyed art, writing, cooking, gardening, traveling, her pets and chickens. She loved being outdoors.

Linda is survived by her husband, Dean; son, Masaki; daughter, Cainna; sister, DaVee (John) MacMaster; several relatives and friends, and her pet cats, Paul and Vincent.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Lori Anderson.

Memorials can be made to The Arts Center in Jamestown, James River Humane Society or an organization of your choice.

Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., followed by a funeral at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 20, at the First Church of the Nazarene in Jamestown. Burial will be at the Highland Home Cemetery in Jamestown.
