Lloyd Sodawasser

Lloyd Sodawasser, 85, Buchanan, North Dakota died Sunday, January 11, 2004 at Jamestown Hospital, Jamestown, ND. Lloyd was born November 6, 1918 in Ashland Township, Stutsman County, ND the son of Louis and Julia (Braasch) Sodawasser. He attended rural school in Ashland Township. He later attended Veterans Agricultural School at Jamestown. He ran a gas station near Windsor, ND. Later, Lloyd entered the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) at Middle River, Minnesota and Miles City, Montana. He married Erma Rolfson on July 9, 1940 in Jamestown. They moved to Chicago, IL where he was employed at the American Car Company. He later was employed in Oak Park, Illinois and Evanston, Illinois where he and his wife were assistant managers.

He entered the U.S. Navy there in 1944 where he served in both the Atlantic and Pacific Theatres. After returning from the Navy in 1946 they moved back to North Dakota where he purchased a farm.

Lloyd served on the Ashland School Board, Ashland Township Board, Frazier Elevator Board at Wimbledon, ND and the Stutsman County Soil Conservation board for 29 years.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Jamestown, the Elks, VFW, American Legion and the Sheyenne Valley Good Sam Club.

Lloyd enjoyed country living, planting lots of trees and visiting with people.

He is survived by his wife, Erma, Jamestown; a grandson, Tod Sodawasser, Bothell, WA, a granddaughter, Linda Wilson, Moorhead, MN; four great-grandsons, David Wichmann, Moorhead, MN, Gabriel Wichmann, Cody and Nicholas Sodawasser, Bothell, WA and one great-great-granddaughter, Mikala Wichmann.

He was preceded in death by his son, Lloyd Sodawasser, Jr.,a great-grandson, Michael Wichmann his parents, two sisters and two brothers.

Memorial Service: 1:30 PM, Saturday, January 17, 2004 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Jamestown with Rev. Terry Anderson officiating.

Visitation: 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Friday, January 16, 20024 at Eddy Funeral Home.

Burial at a later date.
