Lloyd Wynne

April 8, 1944 — July 28, 2015

Lloyd Merriman Wynne was born on April 8, 1944, in Minot, ND, the son of Lynn Joseph and Thea Dora (Merriman) Wynne. He grew up in Minot and, from a young age, was taught by his father how to train and race Quarter and Thoroughbred horses. Lloyd enlisted in the US Marines on November 1, 1961 and served in Florida for a time. They were activated during the Cuban Missile Crisis and served two years in Vietnam. Lloyd was honorably discharged on December 4, 1964 as a Lieutenant Corporal. He began his career as an engineering technician with North Central Consultants in 1969. Lloyd married Kathleen Hustad on December 18, 1971 in Minot and they made their home in Jamestown. He started working with Interstate Engineering in 1986 and was a Field Project Inspector with them until his retirement in 2006. Lloyd helped build water treatment facilities, water towers, and various other projects. He was a horse-racing fan, taking trips to Saratoga and following the Triple Crown. Lloyd was a marvelous cook and enjoyed entertaining his family and friends. He won many local chili cook-offs and received 6th at a World Chili Cook Off. Lloyd loved working crossword puzzles, trivia and watching documentaries, especially those concerning WWII and Vietnam. He also enjoyed traveling and was able to take trips to Alaska, Germany, Ireland, and Africa.

Lloyd is survived by his wife, Kathy Wynne; daughter, Erin Lynn Gordon, and her children, Noah, Caleb, Lucas, and Sarah; daughter, Elizabeth Mary (Brian Davis) Wynne and their children, Peyton and Zane Davis; mother-in-law, Myrtle Hustad; brother, Timothy Wynne; sisters, Gloria (John) Kasonic and Susan (Gary) Selinsky; sister-in-law, Vicki Mading; nieces, Lynnette Christiansen, Kelly Burton, and Karen Kasonic; and nephews, Jay Kasonic and Todd Wynne.

He was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law, Boyd Hustad; and numerous aunts and uncles.

The family requests that memorial be given to the John Dardis Hospice Memorial Fund or Parkinson’s Research.

Memorial Service: 10:30 a.m., Monday, August 3, 2015 at the Williams-Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, with Chaplain Susan Fandrich officiating.

Visitation: None scheduled. Arrangements are in the care of Williams-Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown.

Interment: 3:00 p.m., Monday, August 3, 2015 at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, ND.
