Lois K. Christensen

August 5, 1927 — March 23, 2010

Lois Kathryn Flannery Christensen passed away on March 23, 2010 at the Ave Maria Village in Jamestown, after a courageous battle with cancer and kidney disease.

Lois was born on August 5, 1927 in Jamestown, North Dakota, the youngest child of Alice (Farber) and James J. Flannery. Lois attended St. John’s Academy graduating in 1945.

On January 10, 1950, Lois married Roy M. Christensen in Jamestown, and they have two daughters, Ann (Terri) and Paula.

In May of 1954 Lois and her family moved to Cooperstown, ND where they resided until 1964. At that time they moved to Waseca, MN where they lived for the next 40 years. In December of 2004, Lois and Roy returned to Jamestown to live.

Lois loved the English language and enjoyed her daily crossword puzzles. She also loved being around young children, and worked as a volunteer in an elementary classroom in Waseca for several years. She enjoyed listening to struggling readers and helping them. She was very proud of her Irish heritage and loved a good story or joke. Even when she was ill she continued to tell her “stories”.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Roy, who currently resides at Ave Maria Village. She is also survived by her daughters: Ann (Jim) Reisdorfer of Oregon, WI and Paula (Jeff) Schmitz of Reno, NV. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Jeremy Reisdorfer, Jeff (Mary) Reisdorfer, Krista (Steve) Maans and Kirk (Jennie) Schmitz; and her great grandchildren: Kolton Maans, Ginger and Jackie Schmitz, and Addison and Beckett Reisdorfer. She also is survived by a sister; Muriel Johnson of Lebanon, MO.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers and 3 sisters.

The family would like to thank the staff of Ave Maria Village, and the nurses of Jamestown Hospice for the care they provided Lois during her illness. Memorials can be made to either Jamestown Hospital or the Foundation for Advancement of Christian Education.
