Chic was born at Trinity Hospital in Jamestown, the daughter of Robert “Lyle” and Effie (Genzel) Smith. Her mother died when she was 6 years old. Her father later married Agnes (Lulay) Smith who raised Chic in Jamestown with Lyle. The family owned and operated the Lyle Smith Auto Repair Shop for many years. Chic and Cliff were married for 56 years, when he passed in 2009. For 62 years, Chic made her home on Third Avenue SW in Jamestown where Chic and Cliff raised four children and entertained many. During those years, she worked at Walsh’s Bowling Center (Buffalo Lanes) and later was the owner of Century-Mercury Motor Fright with her half- brother, John Robert Smith.

Chic and Cliff were members of the Jamestown Elks, American Legion, Eagles, VFW, and supporters of Jamestown Hockey. In her earlier years, Chic enjoyed being a member of Jamestown Women’s Bowling League and Hillcrest Women’s Golf Association. She also enjoyed their family cabin on Spiritwood Lake- “Heer’s Hutch”. Recently, her favorite time was spent with her many friends in local bridge clubs and community activities and with her family.

Survivors include 4 children: Noreen (Rob) Nicol, Denver, CO; Doug (Sharon) Heer, Eugene, OR; Tom (Leona) Heer, Eugene, OR; and Tracy (Paul) Monson, Jamestown, ND. At a later date, she will be laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery with her husband and parents.
