Lois Wentz, 94, Jamestown, ND, died on Saturday morning, March 10, 2018 at Cottagewood Senior Communities, Rochester, MN .
Lois Ann Petrek was born April 3, 1923 on the family farm in Nogosek Township near Kensal, ND the daughter of Frank A. and Martha (Foy) Petrek. She attended the Nogosek Township School and graduated from Kensal High School in 1941. She later attended Valley City State Teachers College, Valley City, ND. Lois married Melvin Burleson on April 14, 1945 at St. John’s Catholic Church, Kensal, ND. They settled onto a farm 7 miles south of Kensal. Lois worked at the North Dakota State Hospital for 25 years, first as a house mother for the student nurses and later as a nurses aid and then as a clerk until she retired in 1985. She married Raymond Wentz on June 1, 1985 at the State Hospital Chapel, Jamestown, ND. They moved to Streeter following marriage and returned to Jamestown to live in The Meadows in 2004. She moved to Rochester in February 2013 to be closer to family and resided at Cottagewood Senior Communities since September 2014. Lois was a member of St. James Basilica, Jamestown, ND.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Cottagewood Senior Communities Cottage 7 for their wonderful care, friendship and support, and also the nurses at Transition Medicine at Mayo Clinic and Season’s Hospice.
Survivors include daughter, Jolleen (Earnest) Weick, Rochester, MN and son, Lynn (Ritagail) Burleson, Bartlesville, OK; 5 grandchildren, Chad, Shawn, & Brandon Weick, Jeffrey & Josiah Burleson; 10 great grandchildren; and a brother, Gary (Marit) Petrek, Jamestown, ND.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three children, Joseph, Marilee and Jeffrey; and sisters, Germaine and Jeanne.
Mass of Christian Burial: 10:00 a.m., Friday, March 16, 2018 at St. James Basilica, Jamestown.
Prayer Service – 7:00 p.m., Thursday, March 15, 2018 at Williams Funeral Home, Jamestown.
Visitation – 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, March 15, 2018 at Williams Funeral Home, Jamestown.
Spring Burial – St. John’s Cemetery, Kensal, ND.
