Lola M Horejsi, 91, went home to be with her husband of 64 years on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at Ave Maria Village surrounded by her loving family under the care of Hospice.
Lola Mae Whitter was born on April 19, 1925 in East St Louis, Illinois the daughter of John and Evelan (Pritchett) Whitter. Lola graduated from East St Louis High School in 1942 and went to work for Intercoastal Paints. This is where she met the love of her life Albert. Lola and Albert were married April 19, 1946 in East St. Louis, III. They then moved to a farm north of Kensal, ND and started their family. In 1962 they moved to a farm west of Pingree, where they lived until 1980, when they relocated to Jamestown. In 2010 Lola moved into the Heritage Center to be close to Albert, who was in the Ave Maria Village. He died March 13, 2011. In December of 2015 Lola became a resident of Ave Maria Village.
Lola worked at First Bank, as a teller, Magic Mushroom, as a salesperson and as a greeter at Walmart. She was also know as Mrs. Claus at Walmart during the Christmas Season. Lola was a member of the Pingree Congregational Church, as well as the Congregational Church Ladies Aid. Her bright eyes, smiling face, and kind heart will be missed by all who knew her.
Lola is survived by her children, Raymond Horejsi, Ruth (Joe) Pottner, Albert Horejsi, Jr., Terry (Marcia) Horejsi, and David (Mel O’Dee) Horejsi. She also leaves behind 12 grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren, who she loved very much. She is also survived by a brother, Bernie and a step-sister Gene.
Lola was preceded in death by her husband, Albert, her mother, father, and step-mother. She was also preceded in death by a brother, John, and a sister Marge.
Funeral Service will be held Friday March 17th, 2017 at 2pm at the Ave Maria Village Chapel.
Family will be receiving guests at Eddy Funeral Home Thursday March 16th from 6-8pm.
Family asks that memorials be made to JRMC Hospice and Ave Maria Village.
