Lona A. Hall, 94, died June 18, 2008, at Hi-Acres Manor, Jamestown, North Dakota. Lona, the daughter of Max and Emma (Homuth) Donat, was born August 14, 1913, at Courtenay, ND. She was baptized October 12, 1913, confirmed June 23, 1929 and graduated from Pingree High School on May 29, 1931.
Lona married Kenneth R. Hall on October 30, 1932 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Jamestown. Lona and Ken were the parents of three children, Donna, Richard, and Keith. Ken died on April 4, 1956. Following her husband's death, Lona was employed at Hall Hardware, the B&O Drugstore, and Keith's Fashion Gallery in Jamestown.
Lona taught Sunday School and was a member of the Ladies Aid at St. John's for many years and was active in community activities including Zonta, Lincoln School PTA, PEO, Lady Washington Chapter Order of Eastern Star, Holly Homemakers, the Stutsman County Memorial Museum and the Jamestown Hospital Auxiliary (life member). She enjoyed traveling, hosting, and attending family gatherings, and playing cards, especially bridge, and belonged to several bridge groups.
Lona is survived by her three children, Donna (Ernie) Borr, Bismarck, ND, Dick (Geneal), Jamestown, and Keith (Sue), Casa Grande, AZ; grandchildren, David (Donna) Borr, Tom (Lori) Borr, Richard Borr, Karen Borr, Mike (Mari) Borr, Julie (Paul) Vomacka, Dr. Katie (Merritt Carlson) Hall, Kristi (Brent Jiran) Hall-Jiran, Ken Hall, Brian Hall, and Richard Hall, as well as two step-grandchildren. Also surviving are 17 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; two brothers, Earl and Alvin Donat; two sisters, Elaine Rasmussen Tucker and Ada Noel; and one grandchild, Janet Lynn Hall.
Funeral Service: 10:30 AM, Saturday, June 21, 2008 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Jamestown, with Pastor Steve Berntson officiating.
Visitation: 1:00 to 7:30 PM, Friday, June 20, 2008 at the Eddy Funeral Home in Jamestown, ND.
Prayer Service: 7:30 PM, Friday, June 20, 2008 at the Eddy Funeral Chapel
Burial: Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown, North Dakota.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. John's Lutheran Church or Jamestown Hospital Foundation.
