Lorene Wanzek

Lorene Wanzek, 76, Jamestown, ND, died Tuesday, January 15, 2008 at her home in Jamestown.
Lorene Viola Wegner was born May 26, 1931 at the farm home of her parents, Gottfried and Bertha (Suko) Wegner in Custer Township, south of Cleveland, ND. She grew up on the family farm, attending the Custer Township School through the eighth grade. She married Ronald Henry Wanzek Sr. on October 7, 1950 at St. Mathias Church in Windsor, ND. They lived for a short time on his parents' farm south of Windsor until purchasing a farm in Moon Lake Township where they made their home until 1976, when they moved to Jamestown.
Lorene and Ronald farmed together while raising their family. She also worked at the Jamestown Livestock Café, Montgomery Wards, where many knew her as the "the paint lady" and the Pantry Café. She enjoyed needlework, macramé, ceramics, flower gardening, bird watching and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was active in St. Mathias Church and St. Anne's Altar Society of Windsor and taught CCD for many years at St. Mathias. She was currently a member of The Basilica Of St. James in Jamestown. She and Ronald celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary on October 7, 2007.
She is survived by her husband, Ronald; 3 sons: Ronald Jr. (Terry Lynn) of rural Jamestown; Roger (Pamela Martin), Oceanside, CA; Randy (Dee) Wanzek, Jamestown; a daughter, Sharon (Lynn) Waleri, Jamestown; 4 grandsons: Justin (Kelly) Wanzek, Fargo, ND; Mitchell Wanzek, Cody and Ross Waleri, all of Jamestown; 4 granddaughters: Liza (Fred) Wolff and Lindsey Wanzek of Jamestown; Markell (Matthew) Olmstead, Fargo, ND and Brandee (Brad) Keller, Minot, ND. She is also survived by 4 great-grandchildren: Brody Wolff, Jamestown; Macy Wanzek, Fargo, ND and Alex and Zach Keller, Minot, ND. Also surviving are 4 brothers: Melvin (Agnes) Wegner, David Wegner, Elroy (Edress) Wegner and Clifford (Cheryl) Wegner, all of Jamestown, ND and a sister, Mae (Bob) Williams, Cleveland, ND; numerous nieces and nephews
She was preceded in death by her parents and her father and mother-in-law, Vincent Sr. and Agnes Wanzek.

Rosary - 7:00 p.m. Friday, January 18, 2008 at Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, ND

Prayer Service - 7:15 p.m. Friday, January 18, 2008 at Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, ND

Visitation - 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, January 18, 2008 at Lisko Funeral Chapel and 1 hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.

Interment - St. Pauline's Cemetery, Windsor, ND
