Loretta Mae Hoffman

Memorial services for Loretta Mae Hoffman, 60, of Jamestown (formerly of Ellendale) will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 17, 2023, at the Ellendale Nazarene Church, Ellendale, ND.

Loretta passed away unexpectedly on February 9, 2023, at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, ND.

Loretta Mae, daughter of Gottlieb and Leverna (Schwartz) Hoffman was born October 30, 1962, at Ashley, ND.  She grew up in Ellendale and attended Ellendale Public School, graduating with the class of 1982.   While in high school she worked at Ellendale Memorial Hospital.  After living and working in Fargo for a few years, she moved near Jamestown to work as a nanny.  Later she moved to Jamestown and has lived there for almost 30 years.  She was employed for many years at McDonalds, Pantry Kitchen, University of Jamestown, and Marriott Fairfield Inn and Suites, and currently at RM Stoudt's.

Loretta enjoyed time outdoors going for walks and riding bike, creating crafts such as Diamond Art and ceramics, word search and bowling.  She loved to spend time with her cats Oscar, Charlie and recently Mittens.  Loretta will be remembered for her mischievous sense of humor, welcoming personality, bright smile, willingness to try different things, and helping others.

Loretta was a former member of the First Baptist Church in Ellendale.

Grateful for having shared Loretta’s life are her sisters Evangeline (Ike) Hoffman of High Point, NC, Violet Hoffman and Wanda Hoffman, both of Ellendale and Shirley (Dana) Barbie of Pflugerville, TX; an aunt, uncles and many cousins and her special kitty friend, Mitten.

Loretta was preceded in death by her mother in 1991, her father in 1998, her brother Roger Lee Hoffman in 2020, and her kitty friends Oscar and Charlie.

In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials.
