Lorine Schlecht

April 8, 1927 — June 14, 2010

Lorine Schlecht, 83, of Medina, North Dakota, died Monday, June 14, 2010 at Wishek Home for the Aged, Wishek, ND.

Lorine Mayer was born April 8, 1927, to Robert and Lydia (Moser) Mayer on the family farm South of Medina. She attended rural school south of Medina and graduated from the eighth grade. On November 25, 1945, she married Clarence Schlecht. They moved to a farm in Stirton Township where they operated a grain and stock farm. Lorine taught Sunday School for 42 years, was a mission woman and served on the District and Conference Boards for the United Methodist Women. She had also been on the Lehr Camp Board for over 25 years as treasurer and was on the Sunshine Homemaker Club and school PTO Boards. She was a member of Germans from Russia. Lorine enjoyed cooking, baking, canning, gardening and taking pictures of windmills while traveling. She loved to visit and make friends. In 2008, Lorine entered the Wishek Nursing Home.

She is survived by her husband, Clarence, Medina, ND; two daughters, Karen (Jack) Lueck, Spiritwood, ND, Korreen (Randy) Mason, Roseau, MN; one son, Paul (Rhonda) Schlecht, Medina, ND; eight grandchildren, JP (Lexie) Lueck, Nathan (Amber) Lueck, Lenae (Joe) Bear, Steven Mason, Sarah Mason, Cole (Carrie) Schlecht, Caitlin Schlecht and Collin Schlecht; two great-grandchildren, Markell Lueck and Jacie Bear; four sisters, Deloris Obenauer, Mandan, ND, Lillian Schlecht, Medina, ND, Marlina (Richard) Spitzer, Bloomington, MN and Rose Marie (Charles) Simmons, Colorado Springs, CO. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Darlene Moos, three brothers, Clarence and twin brothers, Elroy and Leroy Mayer.
