Lorraine M. Gross

September 28, 1927 — May 25, 2005

Lorraine M. Gross, 77, of Cleveland, North Dakota, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend, peacefully, and surrounded by family entered the arms of her Lord on Wednesday, May 25, 2005 at the Knife River Care Center, Beulah, ND.

She is survived by her mother, Marie Reich, Jamestown. Sons: Ernie, Jamestown, Myron (Michele) St. Paul, MN; John, Fargo; and Bill, Seattle, WA. Daughter: Mary Ann (Wes) Klein, Hazen. Nine grandchildren: Justin, KaSondra, Kayla, Kimberly, Kelsey, Shiloh, Kaylene, Jacob, Shenise Klein. Sisters: Adeline Reich-Buchanan, McAllen, TX; Naomi Reich-Swenningson, Bismarck. Brothers: Vernon, Jamestown; Harley, Cleveland and Elmer, Grants Pass, OR; all of whom she deeply loved and cared for throughout her life.

She was the devoted wife of John Gross, Jr. (deceased). Lorraine M. Gross was born September 28, 1927, the eldest daughter of Jacob and Marie Reich, and grew up in the farming community of Cleveland, ND. She received her primary education at Cleveland School and upon completion, attended nursing school at St. Alexius Hospital in Bismarck, ND. Following graduation in 1949, she began a career as a nurse at Jamestown, ND.

Lorraine married John Gross, Jr. of Cleveland, ND, December 20, 1956. Together, they raised 5 children and developed a cattle ranch. The ranch was a primary producer of Hereford breeding stock for many years. Lorraine was well known for the extensive meals and lunches that she would prepare for as many as 15 helpers on the farm. Despite long work hours and many challenges, Lorraine always had an optimistic attitude and sweet disposition.

She always valued educaton and Christianity. Lorraine wanted her children to complete a college degree and all of the children did graduate from college. She enjoyed watching Christian TV shows on Sunday mornings and sharing her beliefs with the children. Her Christian belief didn't waiver in good times or bad. She was a steadfast, loving, supportive mother and a devoted Christian woman throughout life.

She was preceded in death by Jacob Reich (father), John Gross, Jr. (husband), Inez Krause (sister) and Jeremiah Klein (grandson).

Funeral Service: 10:30 AM, Wednesday, June 1, 2005 at the First Baptist Church, Jamestown.

Visitation: 1:00 to 8:00 PM, Tuesday, May 31, 2005 at the Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown.

Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Jamestown, North Dakota.
