Lorraine Ost

February 12, 1935 — April 18, 2015

Lorraine Ost, 80 of Nortonville, ND, died Saturday evening, April 18, 2015 at Sanford Health in Fargo ND from complications of pancreatitis.

Lorraine was born on February 12, 1935, in Nortonville, the daughter of Claude and Eleanor (Peterson) Edwards. She grew up on the farm and attended country school. Lorraine graduated from Nortonville High School and attained her teaching certificate from Ellendale Normal College. She married Morris Ost on July 18, 1954 in the Nortonville United Methodist Church. Lorraine taught country school in Russell Township for 4 years. She then worked the family farm alongside Morris and later Steve until retiring in 2002, which gave her more time for gardening, tending her Guinea hens (Goons) and of course cooking and baking fresh buns daily, she loved to shop for groceries and could always find the best deals. Most everyone can attest that if you were there at noon you didn’t go away hungry. She loved going to her grandkids’ sporting events and was so proud of them no matter what and always made time for them to help with whatever she could. She shared her birthday with her son, Steve. She enjoyed her new house that she and Morris built for their 50th anniversary and keeping track of everything going on around the yard or at the shop. Lorraine was a member of the Nortonville United Methodist Church, TOPPS, James River Riders saddle club and bowled league in Nortonville at Leo Lanes. Lorraine was a Township Assessor for many years, sat on numerous election boards and the LaMoure County Selective Service Board.

Lorraine is survived by her husband of 60 years Morris, son Steve (Cammy) Ost, Nortonville, granddaughter Kaitlin Ost, and grandson Ryan Ost, both of Nortonville; sister, Delene (Raymond) Berg, Riverton WY and Ardella (Robert) Lacina, Fullerton, ND.
