Lorraine Wright, 78, Jamestown, ND, died Saturday, October 24, 2009 at Meritcare Hospital, Fargo, ND.
Lorraine Lois Nogosek was born November 9, 1930 on the family farm near Kensal, ND, the daughter of Louis and Theresa (Neva) Nogosek. She was raised and attended school in Kensal, graduating from Kensal High School in 1948. She attended Valley City State College where she earned her teaching certification. She taught in country schools for 3 years. She went on to attend Mrs. Matchie's Business School and worked for White Drug in Jamestown, ND. On January 21, 1952, she married Robert "Bud" Wright at St. John's Catholic Church, Kensal, ND. Lorraine and Bud lived in many places while he was serving in the military including: Massachusetts, Washington D.C.; Germany; Virginia, Alaska and Texas. Upon his retirement from active duty in 1970 they returned to Jamestown, ND where Bud and his brother, Gerald, operated Wright Beverages and Wright Trucking and Leasing.
Lorraine was a member of St. James Basilica and St. James Tabernacle Society where she volunteered her time with various projects including helping with funeral lunches. She served as the St. James Parish Center Supervisor from 1984 to 1985. She was the president of the Fort Sam Houston Catholic Women's Club in San Antonio, Texas from 1966 to 1967. She was an avid baseball fan and worked along side her husband for 28 years running the scoreboard while he announced the Jamestown American Legion games. In 1996, USA Baseball selected Lorraine and her family as North Dakota's Youth Baseball Family of the Year. She also enjoyed playing bingo and bowling.
She is survived by 3 children: Lt. Col. (Ret) Deborah (James) Fahey and daughter, Caitlyn, Melissa, TX; Robert Wright and daughters Jessica, Hope and Sarah, Jamestown, ND; Janelle (Anthony) Mitzel and daughter Madalin, East Grand Forks, MN and 3 additional grandchildren, Shane Schoeneberg (son of her deceased daughter Barbara), Jamestown, ND; Kalli Wright, San Diego, CA and Casey Wright, Minneapolis, MN, (children of her deceased son, William); 3 sisters: Harriet DeVillers, Kensal, ND; Irene Pitra, Kensal, ND; Marcie Krueger, Jamestown, ND and a brother, Leland Nogosek, Fenton, MO.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, William; a daughter, Barbara; her parents; 2 sisters: Phyllis Nogosek and Mildred Schrade and a brother, LaVerne Nogosek.
Funeral - 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at St. James Basilica, Jamestown, ND.
Prayer Service - 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, ND
Visitation - 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, ND and 1 hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday
