Louise Fischer

Louise Fischer, 95, Oakes, ND, formerly of Edgeley, ND, died Sunday, April 2, 2006 at the Oakes Good Samaritan Center, Oakes, ND.
Louise Ortha Schulz was born August 4, 1910 on a farm near Edgeley, ND, the daughter of Charles F. and Bertha (Gurney) Schulz. Louise was raised near Edgeley, ND and attended school in Nora Township and Edgeley, graduating from Edgeley High School in 1928. After graduating, she attended Ellendale Normal and Industrial College and received her teaching certificate. She taught school at Deisem, ND and rural Monango, ND. On June 29, 1932, she married Frank Fischer at Zion Lutheran Church, Edgeley, ND. They settled on a farm 3 miles northwest of Edgeley, ND where they lived and farmed for 65 years. In the fall of 1997, they moved to Oakes, ND where they celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary. Louise became a resident at the Oakes Good Samaritan Center in 2000.
Louise was a life long member of Zion Lutheran Church, Edgeley, ND, where she was baptized, confirmed and married and served as organist, Sunday School Teacher, and Junior Bible Class Leader for 52 years. She was a charter member and helped organize the Zion Walther League and was a member of and served as president of the Lutheran Women's Missionary League. Louise clerked the sales at the Edgeley and Oakes Livestock Auction Markets for many years.
Survivors include 2 daughters: Marilyn (Gorden) Mewes, San Leandro, CA; Joyous (Robert) Bartle, Le Sueur, MN; a son, Douglas (Frances) Fischer, Renton, WA; 5 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren; relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 4 brothers, 4 sisters and 1 granddaughter.
Funeral - 1:30 p.m. Friday, April 7, 2006 at Zion Lutheran Church, Edgeley, ND with Reverend Alan Eppen officiating
Visitation - 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, April 6, 2006 at Lisko Funeral Chapel, Edgeley, ND and 1 hour prior to services at the church on Friday
Interment - Mount Hope Cemetery, Edgeley, ND
