Lovera Kunz, 90, of Jamestown, ND, passed away Wednesday evening, May 30, 2018 at Ave Maria Village, Jamestown.
Lovera Dwelle was born February 2, 1928, in Kensal, ND, the daughter of Ralph and Eva (Flanders) Dwelle. She grew up in Kensal and Jamestown where she attended school. Lovera married Edward Kunz on May 4, 1946 in Jamestown. Edward died on May 17, 1972. They made their home in Valley City for a short time, then returned to Jamestown.
Lovera worked for the North Dakota State Hospital for over 25 years. She was the Chapter President of the ND Public Employees Association and received the Employee of the Year Award in 1977, both at the Chapter and State level.
She was an active member of the Eagles Auxiliary, holding many offices, was on the ritual team and won many awards, including Woman of the Year and State Mother. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and St. John’s Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School and Bible School.
Lovera is survived by six children, Gail (Elaine), Bismarck, ND, Cheryl (Terry) Davis, Jamestown, Gloria (Delmer) Davis, Jamestown, Terry (Connie), Arvada, CO, Roger, Brooklyn, IN, and Glenn (Katie), Lincoln, NE; 10 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; brother, Kenneth (Sharon) Dwelle, Bismarck, ND; sisters, Elnora Riedy, St. Louis, MO, Sharon (Dale) Kastner, Pierre, SD, and Jean Carroll, San Jose, CA.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Marvin, Norman, Raymond, and Dale; and sister, Cleaice Sease.
Memorial Service: 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Jamestown, with Pastor Erik Weber officiating.
Burial: Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown.
