Loverna Hofmann

Loverna Hofmann, 87, of Medina, ND, died Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at Bethany Retirement Living, Fargo, ND.

Loverna Metzger was born August 15, 1930, in Medina, ND, the daughter of Adam and Sophie (Bitz) Metzger. She graduated from Jamestown High School in 1948, and then worked for Easter Seals for a year and at Bagen Realty. Loverna also was a waitress at Gladstone Hotel, and later was a stenographer. She and Fred Hofmann were united in marriage on November 5, 1950 at First Baptist Church, Jamestown. They made their home on a farm northeast of Medina. Fred passed away on May 23, 2012.

Loverna was a member of Sunshine Homemakers, Stutsman County Dairy Women, Stutsman County Republican Women, and Women’s Ministries of Medina Assembly of God. She was a member of Medina Assembly of God and served as a Sunday School teacher and treasurer, church treasurer, and Women’s Ministries secretary and treasurer.

She enjoyed reading, embroidering, putting puzzles together, and listening to Gospel music.

Loverna is survived by her five children, Karen Small, Tuba City, AZ, Kathryn (Kendall) Jones, West Fargo, ND, Kenneth (Joyce) Hofmann, Aberdeen, SD, Karolyn (Don) Farquhar, Sutherland, IA, and Keith (Julie) Hofmann, Medina, ND; 17 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sister, Darlene (Elroy) Enzminger, Bismarck, ND; and sister-in-law, Clara Metzger.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Elroy Metzger and two brothers, Reuben and Norman, in infancy; and a sister, Gladys, in infancy.

Funeral Service: 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 28, 2018 at First Assembly of God, Jamestown, with Rev. Virgil Moos officiating.

Visitation : 5:00 p.m., to 7:00 p.m., Friday, April 27, 2018 at Eddy Funeral Home.

Interment : Medina Cemetery, Medina, ND. A luncheon by the English Lutheran Church Ladies will follow at the Medina Legion Hall.
