Lucille Swanson, 84, Jamestown, ND died Monday, June 24, 2013 at Sanford Health in Fargo, ND.
Lucille Burleson was born December 11, 1928 in Kensal, ND the daughter of Ernest and Alvina (Braasch) Burleson. She attended country school and graduated from Jamestown High School in 1948. On September 6, 1949 Lucille married Charles Swanson and they made their home in Jamestown. She worked at Trinity Hospital for 7 years until they closed their doors. She then worked at the North Dakota State Hospital for over 28 years. She was presented the Aide of the Year in 1970 by Governor William Guy in Bismarck. She was ward manager of the girls adolescent unit for over 20 years and retired from the ND State Hospital in 1991. Charles died in September 2002.
Lucille enjoyed working in her garden, word puzzles, jigsaw puzzles and crocheting.
Lucille is survived by her son, Robert C. (Linda) Swanson, Sauk Centre, MN; two grandchildren, Sasha Rae (Brian) Vandeven and Robert C. Swanson, Jr. and four great-grandchildren
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; three sisters, Ruth Hopland, Ruby Dorscher and Rose Munroe; and two brothers, Melvin and Alvin Burleson.
