Luella ""Lue"" Hopewell, 82, Jamestown, North Dakota died Monday, November 1, 2004 at Hi-Acres Manor Nursing Home, Jamestown.
Lue was born January 9, 1922 in Vashti, North Dakota the daughter of Charles Edgar and Idane (Young) Brady. She received her education in the Vashti and Pingree schools. Lue married Burns Hopewell on July 31, 1943 in Jamestown. They lived in the Pingree area where they operated the Midway Café & Service Station. Lue worked as the Pingree school clerk for a long time. Later they farmed in the Pingree area where they made their home for many years. In her later years, she was employed at the Golden Acres Manor in Carrington, ND. Burns died May 12, 1984.
She was a member of the Pingree Homemakers, Pingree Congregational Ladies Aid, VFW Auxillary and the Pingree Congregational Church where she was a pianist for the Rev. N.E. McCoy. Her hobby was music and playing the piano.
Lue is survived by her two sons, Lyle Hopewell, Carrington, ND and Lynn (Barbara) Hopewell, Jamestown, ND; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two brothers, Elden Brady, Jamestown and Lowell Brady, Medford, Oregon and two sisters, Vivian Sheets, Carrington, ND and Elida Cadieux, Albuquerque, NM.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two brothers, Gerald and Larry.
Funeral Service: 10:30 AM, Thursday, November 4, 2004 at the Pingree Congregational Church, Pingree, ND with the Chaplain David Fisher officiating.
Visitation: 1:00 to 6:00 PM, Wednesday, November 3, 2004 at the Eddy Funeral Home.
Prayer Service: 7:00 PM, Wednesday, November 3, 2004 at Hi-Acres Memorial Chapel, Jamestown.
Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Jamestown, North Dakota.
