Lurline Fandrey, 81, Jamestown, North Dakota died Sunday, September 14, 2003 at Jamestown Hospital. Lurline Davis was born February 16, 1922 in Sanborn, North Dakota the daughter of Robert & Clara (Stephan) Davis. Lurline graduated from Valley City High School. She married Orville Fandrey on July 11, 1941 in Dickinson, ND. They lived in Kingman, AZ during WW II for 18 months before Orville was shipped overseas to the Pacific. Lurline held various secretarial jobs after the war and worked for Nodak Mutual Insurance for several years. In the early 1950's, when Orville became manager of Bloom Oil, Lurline became the bookkeeper. In 1959, her husband started Fandrey Fuels in Jamestown and she was again the bookkeeper. Orville died June 23, 1980. When the business discontinued in the mid 1970's, she held various clerical jobs in Jamestown. She always said the most interesting job was as records clerk with the Jamestown Police Department. She worked in the detective bureau where she was responsible for setting up the court calendars.
She loved to work crossword puzzles and had subscriptions to seven different crossword books. She also looked forward each summer to vacationing with her son. Many ghost towns were seen and many backroads driven to find out-of-the way places. Many pictures were taken on the trips and she logged each picture so when they were put in an album, a proper description could be given. Lurline also enjoyed taking care of the petunias around her house.
Lurline is survived by a son, Ken Fandrey of New Hope, MN and many cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and one brother, Duane Davis.
