Lydia Diede, 97, Jamestown, North Dakota died Sunday, November 2, 2003 at Hi-Acres Manor Nursing Home, Jamestown.
Lydia Goebel was born July 1, 1906 in south Russia, the daughter of Peter and Marie (Retzer) Goebel. She came to the United States in 1908 with her parents and they settled on a farm near Lehr, North Dakota. Lydia attended country school in McIntosh county. She married John J. Diede on November 20, 1927 in Lehr. They farmed south of Lehr, until 1947 when they moved to a farm in the Pingree area. They retired in 1962 and moved to Jamestown. John died on December 25, 1991. Lydia entered Golden Years Manor in 1992 and resided there until she became a resident of Hi-Acres Manor Nursing Home in 1996 where she lived until the present time.
Lydia was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Jamestown. She enjoyed gardening, crotcheting, and sewing.
Lydia is survived by one son, Larry (Grace) Diede, of Jamestown, one daughter, Marlys Perleberg, Pingree, ND two daughters-in-law, Rinalde Diede and Frances Diede both of Jamestown, 17 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, 4 step-great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren and 1 step-great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sons, Ivan and Wallace, a son-in-law, John Perleberg, two brothers, Carl and Phillip, two sisters, Magdeline and Marie and an infant grandson.
Funeral Service: 1:30 PM, Thursday, November 6, 2003 at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, Jamestown with Pastor David Stuart officiating.
Visitiation: 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM, Wednesday, November 5, 2003 at Eddy Funeral Home.
Prayer Service: 7:00 PM, Wednesday, November 5, 2003 at Eddy Funeral Chapel.
Burial: Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown, North Dakota.
