Lydia Sukut, 95, of Jamestown, ND died Saturday, May 1, 2004 at Central Dakota Village in Jamestown.
Lydia Lautt was born February 28, 1909 in McIntosh County, near Fredonia, ND the daughter of George and Carolina (Roesler) Lautt. She attended rural McIntosh Co. schools and helped on the family farm. Lydia was baptized and confirmed at the Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Fredonia. She married Edward Sukut, Jr. on December 4, 1930 in Fredonia. They farmed in the Fredonia area until 1954. Then, they moved to Jamestown where she worked for F.W. Woolworths Co. until her retirement. Edward died March 3, 1966.
Lydia was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Jamestown where she was active in Ladies' Aid and THEOS Bible study. She also enjoyed singing with the Germans from Russia Heritage Singers and spending time with her family.
Lydia is survived by her two daughters, Florence Goehner and Marilyn (Robert) Duchscherer, both of Jamestown, ND; 9 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three brothers, Edwin, Albert, and Lorenze; two sisters, Elizabeth Miller and Emma Schmierer; and two great-grandsons, Trevor and Chad.
Funeral Service: 1:30PM, Tuesday, May 4, 2004 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Jamestown with Rev. Doug Opp officiating.
Visitation: Monday, May 3, 2004 from 1:00PM to 9:00PM at the Eddy Funeral Home.
Prayer Service: 7:30PM, Monday, May 3, 2004 at the Eddy Funeral Chapel.
Burial: Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown.
