May 23, 1942 — August 29, 2021

Maralyn Egedisen passed away peacefully at Sunrise at Cherry Creek Assisted Living in Denver, Colorado on August 29, 2021, at the age of 79.

Maralyn Andrews was born May 23, 1942 at Still Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa to C. Earl and Claire (Saathoff) Andrews.  She attended Maple Grove Elementary School through the 5th grade.  In 1953, her family moved to Albert Lea, Minnesota where she attended Lincoln Elementary School, Junior High, and Central High School, graduating in 1960.  She then attended Winona State Teacher's College.  In 1962, she moved back to Des Moines and worked at Iowa-Des Moines National Bank.  She moved to Rochester, Minnesota in 1964 and worked in the computer department at Norwest Bank.  She married R. James Egedisen on June 20, 1971 and moved to Jamestown, North Dakota.  They had one daughter, Brenda.

In Jamestown, she was employed at James-River National Bank and 1st Federal Savings and Loan.  In 1977, the family moved to New Hope, Minnesota where she worked for Dahlberg Electronics.  They then moved back to Jamestown in 1978.  During the following years, she held several temporary jobs, including working for Western Gear, North Dakota Unemployment Office, United States Census Bureau, selling Park Lane Jewelry and baby-sitting.  Her primary role was staying home and taking care of their daughter.

She was a member of Atonement Lutheran Church and was very active as a Sunday School teacher, Sunday School superintendent, children's choir director, and piano accompanist for the children's choir.  She was also involved with many community activities.  She was a Brownie leader, the 2nd woman to join Jamestown Toastmasters, and a past member of Elkettes and Lady Washington Chapter #1 and Woodbine #4 of Eastern Star.  As a member of Eastern Star, she held several offices including Past Matron, District Deputy, Grand Electa, and organist for her chapter.

In 2006, Maralyn moved to Denver, Colorado to be closer to her daughter. She lived at Windsor Gardens senior complex until Feb 2017 when she moved to The Courtyard in Lakewood, CO.  In February 2018, she moved to Family Assisted Living in Arvada, CO.  After being hospitalized several times, in January 2020, she moved to Sunrise at Cherry Creek in Denver, where she lived until her death.

She enjoyed playing cards, especially 500 and cribbage, with her family until her arthritis made that too difficult. She was able to still enjoy watching TV and playing games on her iPad and Nintendo DS. While she lived with health challenges for many years, she kept a sharp mind and independent spirit. She was often the favorite of her caregivers and they would go to her for life advice.

She is survived by her daughter Brenda of Denver, CO, a brother Alan (Patti) North Augusta, SC, and 4 nieces & 2 nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and in-laws.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, September 7 at Williams Funeral Home in Jamestown with Pastor Steve Berntson officiating. Visitation will be an hour before the service at the funeral home. Interment will be in Highland Home Cemetery.
