Marcella "Marcy" Schmidt

Marcella C. (Auer) Schmidt of Jamestown ND passed away at the age of 88 on Monday, April 15, 2024 at Eventide under the care of Hospice.           Marcy was born in Albany Minnesota on February 24, 1936 to Albert Auer and Victoria (Heitzman) Auer. She was raised with 4 brothers and 7 sisters in Albany MN and later in Carrington ND.

Marcy was united in marriage to Rudolph (Bud) Gaunska. To this marriage two children were born. Daughter Debbie and Son Mark. Bud passed away in 1958. In June of 1991, she was united in marriage to Rueben Schmidt. Rueben passed away in 2005.

Marcy worked for many years as a cook first starting with the Eagles Club and moving on to finish her career at the Anne Carlson Center.

Marcy was blessed with 2 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren who she was so very proud of and treasured dearly. You often found her sitting at Jack Brown Stadium cheering on the baseball team watching with such pride her grandson Levi.

She is survived by her children Debbie (Del) Weber, Minot ND and Mark (Sherie) Gaunska Jamestown ND. Brooke (Landon), Colorado Springs, CO and Levi (Samantha), Springfield, MO; great grandkids, Hayden, Liam and Taysom Gaunska. Marcy was the last survivor of her family but does leave behind numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM with family receiving friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Friday, April 19, 2024 at Eddy Funeral Home.  Funeral service will be 10:30 AM, Saturday, April 20, 2024 at Eddy Funeral Home with Pastor Bryce Tahran officiating.  Interment will be in Highland Home Cemetery.
