Margaret D. Anderson, 94, long time resident of Jamestown, North Dakota died Friday, October 30, 2009, in Sauk Rapids, Minnesota, where she was a resident of Good Shepherd Lutheran Home.
Margaret (Alexander) Anderson was born April 5, 1915 to parents James Burton Alexander and Ida Caroline (Daede) Alexander in Sharlow Township. She graduated from Jamestown High School in 1933 and from Valley City State Teachers College in 1935. She taught elementary school in Parshall, Wishek and Buchanan, North Dakota. She married Myron E. Anderson on September 6, 1942. They lived in Wishek, Bottineau, Ellendale, and Jamestown, ND.
Mrs. Anderson's parents were early homesteaders in Stutsman County.
She was the daughter of two pioneers. Her father, James Alexander, was the son of a sea captain who emigrated from Canada to the United States. Her mother, Ida Daede, traveled with her parents and brothers and sisters from Wisconsin in a wagon.
She was active in the First Methodist Church, homemakers, bridge clubs and the Jamestown Art Center.
Mrs. Anderson is survived by two daughters, Jean (Steve) Quine of Minneapolis, MN and Barbara (Tom) Tillemans of St. Cloud, MN; two grandchildren Ian (Mandy) Quine of St. Paul, MN and Kate (Travis) O'Hara of Richfield, MN; one great-grandson, Thomas O'Hara; three nephews Tim Wiley, Jamestown, Tom Wiley, Montpelier, ND and William Harris, Colorado and one niece, Linda Beach, Georgia.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Myron Anderson, brother, John Alexander, sisters, Doris Wiley and Hazel Harris as well as sister-in-law, Ethel Alexander, and brothers-in-law, Bud Wiley and Jack Harris.
