Margaret Braniff, 89, Jamestown, ND died Sunday, March 18, 2012 at Ave Maria Village in Jamestown.
Margaret Cecil Kragtorp was born April 30, 1922 in McVille, ND, the daughter of Andrew and Charlotte (Olsgard) Kragtorp. She grew up and attended schools in Field Township and McVille, graduating from McVille High School in 1940. On May 28, 1944 Margaret married Willis "Harold" Braniff at Zion Lutheran Church, rural McVille. She received her teacher's certificate at Mayville College and later her Standard Diploma in 1956. She attended the University of North Dakota and received her Bachelors of Science in Education in 1970 and her Masters of Education in 1971. Margaret taught in Nelson, Ramsey, and Dickey Counties, and at Montpelier, ND, retiring after 39 years of teaching.
Margaret and Harold were founding members of Atonement Lutheran Church, Jamestown. She belonged to Women of ELCA, circle, and choir. She is a past president of the American Legion Auxiliary in Jamestown. Margaret enjoyed quilting, knitting, crocheting, ceramics, gardening and baking. She will be remembered for her lefse, other Norwegian goodies and candy at Christmas, and her ?Bunny Cakes? at Easter.
Margaret is survived by her husband, Willis "Harold" Braniff, Jamestown; one sister, Eleanor Olson, Aneta, ND; one sister-in-law, Darlene Kragtorp, Hopkins, MN; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Ernest, Jarl and Alvin; her twin sister, Georgine Reinhart; and five children who died in infancy.
