Margaret Exner, 87, of Jamestown, ND, formerly of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, died Monday, March 12, 2012 at Ave Maria Village, Jamestown.
Edith Margaret Exner was born at Corvallis, Oregon, on October 18, 1924, the daughter of Adolph and Clara (Duncan) Exner. She came to North Dakota with her parents when she was 2 years old. They settled in the Braddock, ND area and when she was 6 they moved to Edgeley, ND where her parents farmed. Margaret attended the Edgeley schools and graduated from Edgeley High School in 1941. She then joined the Sisters of Servants of Christ the King order in Edgeley. After 25 years with the order she left and graduated from a nursing school in Milwaukee, WI. Following her graduation, she worked at Milwaukee City Hospital for 7 years. In 1977 she became employed at Bloodvein, Manitoba where she worked with the native population as a pastoral assistant and as a nurse at a nursing station, until 1988. She then worked as a private duty nurse for Medox Health Agency in Manitoba until retiring in 1996. She continued to reside in Manitoba until moving to Jamestown where she was a resident of Rock of Ages. Margaret enjoyed cooking, crocheting, and visiting people.
Margaret is survived many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Glenard, Bernard, and James; two sisters, Sylvia and Claretta; two sisters-in-law, Rose and Mary; and two brothers-in-law, George and Cliff.
Eucharist of Christian Burial - 10:30 a.m., Friday, March 16, 2012 at St. James Basilica, Jamestown.
Visitation - 1:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., Thursday, March 15, 2012 at Williams-Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown.
Prayer Service - 7:00 p.m., Thursday, March 15, 2012 at Williams-Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown with a Rosary beginning at 6:30 p.m.
Interment - Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Edgeley, North Dakota.
