Margaret L. Schmitt, 91, Jamestown, North Dakota, died Wednesday, June 27, 2007 at her daughter's home.
Margaret Kvislen was born March 23, 1916 in Sanborn, North Dakota, the daugher of Adolf and Edna (Amundson) Kvislen. She attended school in Sanborn. She went to Beauty School in Chicago, IL and returned to Jamestown where she worked in her sister, Claryce's Beauty Shop for many years as a hair stylist. On October 30, 1951 Margaret married Lowell Schmitt in Jamestown. They lived on the Schmitt family farm and farmed in Bloom township their whole life. He died June 3, 1993. Margaret remained on the farm until moving to her daughter and son-in-law, Joy & Jim Speidel's home in February of this year.
Margaret devoted her life to her family. She enjoyed playing cards, music and dancing.
Margaret is survived by a daughter, Joy (Jim) Speidel; two sons, Joe Schmitt and Jeff Schmitt, all of Jamestown; three grandchildren, Chuck (Jennifer) McBeain, Bret McBeain and Trevor Schmitt; one brother, Don (Helen) Kvislen, Jamestown; and one sister, Dorothy Peterson, Bismarck, ND.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; two daughters in infancy; one brother, Ray Kvislen, and three sisters, Mildred Fields, Claryce Erickson and one in infancy.
Funeral Service: 10:30 AM, Saturday, June 30, 2007 at the First Presbyterian Church, Jamestown with Pastor Randy Argall officiating.
Visitation: 1:00 to 8:00 PM, Friday, June 29, 2007 at the Eddy Funeral Home.
Burial: Calvary Cemetery, Jamestown, North Dakota
