Margaret Trautman, 89, of Jamestown, ND, formerly of Cleveland, ND died Friday, December 20, 2002 at Hi-Acres Manor Nursing Home, Jamestown.
Margaret McClung was born June 13, 1913 in Cleveland the daughter of Richard and Nellie (Bridges) McClung. She grew up and received her education at Cleveland Public School, graduating from Valley City State Teachers College. She taught at a one room rural school in the Cleveland School District in 1932. Later, she taught in the Sydney, Windsor, and Valley Springs townships before teaching at Cleveland Public School. Margaret married Paul Trautman on June 7, 1937 in Medina, ND. They bought the McClung farm north of Cleveland on April 1, 1938 and lived there until 1998. Paul Trautman died August 13, 1999.
Margaret received a number of wrinting awards and had two articles printed in the book ""Leaning into the Wind"".
Margaret was a member of the Cleveland United Methodist Church, past Wells Township clerk, and past treasurer of the Cleveland Cemetery board.
She is survived by her daughter, Sharon (Robert A.) Anderson of Jamestown, ND; two sons, Russell (Darlene) Trautman of Cleveland, ND and Allan (Judith) Trautman of Oronoco, MN; 9 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and one brother, John R. McClung of Yucaipa, CA.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one brother, Richard McClung; and two sisters, Vivian Bautz and Virginia Trautman.
Funeral Service: 10:30AM - Monday, December 23, 2002 at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Jamestown with Rev. Norman Winkelman officiating.
Visitation: Sunday, December 22, 2002 from 1:00PM to 9:00PM at the Eddy Fuenral Home.
Burial: Cleveland Cemetery, Cleveland, ND.
