Margit ?Marge? Hill, 92, Bismarck, ND, formerly of Jamestown, ND, died Tuesday, December 2, 2008, at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center in Bismarck.
Marge was born May 5, 1916, the daughter of Gilbert and Norma (Grasswick) Elliott. She was raised and educated in Leonard, ND where she met her future husband, Ralph G. Hill. The couple was married on May 5, 1939, in Fargo, ND. They lived at various times in Leonard and in Sioux Falls, Brookings and Mitchell, SD before settling in Valley City in 1945. In 1967, Marge and Ralph moved to Jamestown, where they resided until their move to the Primrose Retirement Center in Bismarck in 2001. Marge became a resident of the Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center in August of 2007.
Marge had many talents. She was a very accomplished seamstress, and through the years she worked for several clothiers. She was a gifted gardener; with patience and loving care, she coaxed many struggling plants and flowers into vigorous blooms. She was a devoted mother to her son Byron. But Marge?s greatest joy was found in her two grandchildren, Heidi and Derek. She and Ralph spent their retirement following and supporting them in their various childhood pursuits and high school and college activities. She took great pride in their accomplishments. In recent years she found new happiness in the company of her 4 great-grandchildren.
Marge is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Byron and Mary Hill of Bismarck; her granddaughter, Heidi Hill (David) Wolfard of Lincoln, NE; her grandson, Derek (Melissa) Hill of Rapid City, SD; her great-granddaughters Madison and Hannah Kelle and Ellengton Hill and her great-grandson Jaxon Hill. Also surviving are her sisters Lucille Muir, Portland, OR and Marion Bastian, Apple Valley, CA.
Marge was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her brothers Lloyd, Marlowe, and Byron Elliott.
